    POSITION SUMMARY



    CLUES is seeking a Grant Writer with superior writing skills and a passion for advancing economic and racial equity and community wellness to join a successful, collaborative, and highly engaged Development team. The Grant Writer is responsible for leading the prospect research, proposal development, and writing to create successful applications for funding from corporations, foundations, and government agencies. The Grant Writer works in partnership with program staff and the Senior Director of Development to meet ambitious fundraising goals to support an annual operating budget of $15 million.

    The Grant Writer manages multiple proposals in all stages of development and completes them on time. The Grant Writer is skilled at working with individuals of diverse backgrounds at all levels of the organization and gathering the information necessary to create compelling proposals and case statements. This is a position that is eligible to work remotely.

    Schedule:
    Full-Time. Generally, Monday – Friday Office hours

    Estimated Salary/Pay:
    $23.75 to $28 (depending on experience & qualifications).

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



    Prospect Research, Proposal Development, and Grant Writing - 90% of time

    • Works in partnership with President and Leadership Team, Program Directors, and Senior Director of Development to align new organizational initiatives and ongoing programs with funding opportunities.
    • Leads prospect research, reviews RFPs, and presents funding opportunities to program staff and Senior Director of Development. Meets regularly with program directors to stay informed on program development and outcomes.
    • Drafts and submits grant proposals in collaboration with Senior Director of Development and program staff.
    • Manages all aspects of grant submission, including creating budgets and assembling all required attachments.
    • Manages and updates grant and reporting deadlines and proposal submissions in Development database.
    • Generates accurate and timely reports on grant submissions and progress toward meeting fundraising goals.

    Additional duties – 10% of time

    • Represents CLUES in site visits and community settings as required.
    • Carries out other duties as assigned by supervisor, including support with annual events such as Fiesta Latina and Gala Latina.

    General Duties

    • Promote the mission, operating values, and agency services of CLUES within the community.
    • Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, agency policies and other applicable laws, regulations and ethical standards.

    SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS

    • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS



    Education, Experience & Key Abilities*

    • Bachelor's degree or post-secondary education preferred.
    • At least two years or equivalent experience of grant prospecting and writing required.
    • Demonstrated success researching, developing, and writing major grants ($100,000 and up) required.
    • Demonstrated accuracy with details and commitment to high standards of writing and editing required.
    • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills required. Must demonstrate ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at all organizational levels.
    • Ability to be efficient and effective in managing multiple deadlines and completing timely submission of proposals and reports.
    • Experience securing government grants and federal funding strongly preferred.
    • Must be knowledgeable of Minnesota's philanthropic community and other regional or national funders.
    • Experience with fundraising and donor management software/databases required.
    • Ability to work creatively, strategically, and effectively in a complex organization and fast-paced environment.
    • A genuine commitment to the mission, values, and vision of CLUES; ability to articulate the mission persuasively to diverse audiences.
    • Cultural sensitivity and awareness required.
    *Equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.

    Language Skills

    • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing, required. Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus.
    • Ability to read, interpret, and summarize written materials, including reports, contracts, and RFPs.
    • Ability to effectively present ideas and information in an organized and effective manner to program staff and leadership team.
    • Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation of proposals and related correspondence.
    • Ability to respond appropriately to questions from co-workers, funders, and community partners.

    Computer Skills

    • Demonstrated working knowledge of email software, the Internet, databases, and common Windows-based programs, including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
    • Must be willing to attend training to advance technical skills and maintain appropriate skill levels to perform job duties.

    • Must pass a criminal background check. As a condition of continued employment, staff person may be required to submit to periodic re-verification of this background check.
