    Description
    General Job Summary: Must be able to work 2nd Shift on Fridays and 1st Shift on Saturdays.The athletic trainer is the liaison between the patient, physician, and their support staff. Job includes providing athletic training services to patients on an ongoing basis through treatment as guided by physician.

    **May qualify for nightly bonus.

    Essential Job Functions:
    • Develops and cultivates contacts with referring physicians, business, schools, coaches and other referral services.
    • Utilizes appropriate, sound and up-to-date clinical techniques to effectively assess and treat athletic injuries.
    • Provides athletic training services to patients and athletes as required.
    • Provides input as to the fitness and conditioning status of the patient.
    • Responsible to provide home exercise protocols for patients per the doctor's request.
    • Responsible for patient brace/crutch fitting and product education.
    • Performs other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the department/practice.
    Requirements

    Education/Experience:
    • Bachelors Degree and Athletic Trainer Certification.
    Other Requirements:
    • Must possess a current CPR/AED certification and current health records with the appropriate immunizations to work in the health care field (Hepatitis B and tuberculosis).
    • Travel to other locations as designated. Schedules will change as department needs change, including overtime and weekends.
    Performance Requirements:

    Knowledge:
    • Knowledge of health care field and medical office protocols/procedures.
    • Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to particular medical practice.
    • Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families.
    • Knowledge and proficiency of word processing, computer/pc and internet/email skills.
    • Knowledge and proper use of office equipment.
    Skills:
    • Skill in performing medical assistance tasks appropriately.
    • Skill in tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions.
    • Skill in understanding patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families.
    Abilities:
    • Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures.
    • Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
    • Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks.
    • Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.
    Work Environment: Combination of medical office and exam/procedure room settings. Well- lighted, well-ventilated, adequate space.

    Mental/Physical Requirements:

    Must be able to use appropriate body mechanics techniques when making necessary patient transfers and helping patients with walking, dressing, etc. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds of supplies. Occasional stress from dealing with many staff and patients.
