    Description

    Position Summary - The Part-Time Nurse Abstractor will abstract or extract clinical data from Health systems/ hospitals in New Jersey for Quality Improvement Program - New Jersey (QIP-NJ). The incumbent will be trained to know the abstraction information, the tools, and technology that will be used to conduct abstraction. This is a temporary assignment; The abstraction period is defined until July 31, 2024 and set to begin on or about June 1, 2024.?During the abstraction periods, the Nurse Abstractor works remotely with occasional in person travel to abstract data from paper medical charts and/or electronic medical records (EMRs). ?Reliability, schedule flexibility, and ability to work at a minimum of 10 hours per week during abstractions period required. There may be some possibilities of working on weekends.

    Supervises - NA


    Essential Functions -
    Review medical records to assess compliance with quality measures data collection.

    Applies critical thinking to understand and accurately interpret clinical data for timely and accurate abstraction.

    Review outcomes of abstraction and communicates issues to HCIS leadership and responds to questions I a timely manner.

    Abstract relevant medical, socio-demographic, and diagnostic information using the Healthcare Innovation Solutions (HCIS) Measure Manager application.

    Organized with a positive, upbeat attitude.

    Must be able to utilize good judgement, demonstrate patience, and always maintain a professional demeanor. ?


    Prerequisite Qualifications -

    Registered Nurse Degree Required / BSN preferred.

    Minimum of three-year experience in using electronic medical records in either hospital or medical clinics/offices

    Experience with compliance relating to the HIPAA Privacy Rule in protecting health information of patients.

    Knowledge of medical terminology and population health.

    Ability to accurately collect and enter clinical information into data entry tools.

    Ability to trouble shoot technology problems when working remotely.

    Computer proficiency and familiarity with computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
