Job description

JOB TITLE: ATHLETIC TRAINER - SENIOR HIGH

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a related field
  • BOC certification
  • Emergency Cardiac Care certification
  • Licensed in the State of Nebraska
  • Ability to pass background check

REPORTS TO: Athletic Director

RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM: Athletic Director

JOB GOAL: Our Athletic Trainers are the primary, and often sole caregiver providing superior rehabilitative care to injured high school athletes. Duties include prevention, evaluation, documentation, education, immediate care, referrals, coordination of care of athletic injuries, and communicating with coaches, athletes, and their parents.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 260 days

EVALUATION: Evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the district's Personnel Evaluation Policy

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Consistent and punctual "on-site" attendance at the worksite is an essential job function
  • Sports performance experience
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills
  • Proven ability to collaborate, effectively communicate, and work independently
  • Outstanding customer service
  • Mobility, strength, visual, and auditory acuity are adequate for immediate response to patients' needs
  • Evaluates injuries and develops treatment and exercise plans within the scope of practice, re-evaluates treatment plans, as needed, to ensure maximum patient benefit
  • Documents patient treatment per professional and regulatory standards
  • Provide athletic training services for all home athletic contests and away varsity football games. If a conflict arises between an away varsity football game and a home contest, the varsity football event will supersede.
  • Act as liaison between family physicians and specialists, the school district, athletes, and their parents.
  • Provide coverage at practices from the beginning of the fall sport season to the conclusion of the spring season, along with summer camps and activities as directed by the Athletic Director.
  • Maintain a line of communication with the team physician(s) regarding athletic health care and recommended treatment/rehabilitation for all athletic injuries.
  • Maintain an effective and efficient athletic training room.
  • Maintain communication with parents on the care & treatment of their student-athlete.
  • File all necessary reports associated with athletic injuries and/or incidents.
  • Maintain a daily treatment log.
    Oversee the ordering of supplies and equipment for the athletic training room and maintain an up-to-date inventory. Provide the Athletic Director with an annual budget for supplies and equipment.
