    Summary - Under the direction of the Purchasing Manager, the Buyer is responsible for the procurement of materials, supplies, parts and equipment from pre-approved requisitions.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

    • Interviews vendors and recommends new sources of supply.
    • Places orders and follows up to expedite delivery.
    • Performs negotiations and recommendations for settlement for inferior or defective shipments or delays.
    • Negotiates cost of products, determines delivery and method of delivery.
    • Manage of assigned commodities by maintaining and responding to system planning modifiers.
    • Travel to suppliers as required.
    • Maintain pricing database.
    Other duties may be assigned.

    Education and/or Experience - Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

    Mathematical Skills - Be able to do buy vs make analysis using basic costing analysis.Understanding of Engineering drawings, dimensions and tolerances.

    Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
