    Description

    School Social Worker Position

    Tentative start date: 2025-2026 school year. This is a unique opportunity to provide specialized service to students and promote successful academic and functional performance, as well as post-secondary transition.

    Responsibilities:

    • Assess student needs through observation, interviews, and evaluations to identify areas of support.
    • Collaborate with school personnel to develop, implement, and monitor positive behavioral intervention strategies that foster a supportive learning environment.
    • Provide essential information to staff members about factors affecting student performance, promoting understanding and empathy.
    • Establish strong relationships with parents to promote effective involvement and access to community resources, ultimately benefiting the student's growth and development.
    • Maintain professional connections with students, parents, and staff while upholding high standards of professionalism.
    • Employ evidence-based strategies, such as Peer-to-Peer, visual/organizational, positive behavioral interventions, communication, and data collection, to teach emotional regulation, behavioral, and social skills to individual students and groups with diverse needs.
    • Utilize technology and assistive technology to communicate, access/manage data, and educate students, ensuring they have equal opportunities for success.
    • Effectively communicate both orally and in writing, fostering clear understanding and collaboration among stakeholders.
    • Cultivate partnerships with community resources to meet students' needs, providing comprehensive support.
    • Prevent and intervene in crises when necessary, demonstrating a commitment to student safety and well-being.
    • Pursue ongoing continuing education to maintain licensure and stay current with best practices in the field.

    Qualifications:

    • A Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
    • A valid State of Michigan license to practice as a School Social Worker.
    • Approval as a School Social Worker, ensuring alignment with state regulations.
