    DESCRIPTION
    The fleet support technician is an entry level position that performs general to semi-skilled labor for the fleet division. Work includes parts delivery, general office tasks and computer related duties, running errands, driving apparatus which includes cars, trucks, snowplows, forklifts, ambulances, and firetrucks. This position will also perform general building maintenance which includes but not limited to changing light bulbs, replacing furnace filters, general landscaping upkeep, organization, and cleaning. This position reports directly to the fleet manager.
    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    Assist the fleet manager with errands such as registering vehicles at the DMV, emissions tests, and updating vehicle registration/insurance cards, in district vehicles.

    Assist the fleet services specialist with deliveries, picking-up parts, and warehousing.

    Assist the fleet services specialist (when they are out of the office) with entering parts into software management system, answering phones, putting parts away.

    Assist the fleet services specialist with inventory and data entry.

    Unload freight using a forklift or crane when needed.

    Deliver Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) and generator fuel to fire stations when needed.

    Assist Fleet with shuttling apparatus for repairs/service, warranty/body work at the dealership, and relocation for storage needs.

    Assist the fleet technicians with keeping the shop organized and clean. This includes but is not limited to taking out trash, cleaning floors, putting away unused parts, and refilling the pump test pit with water.

    Maintain fleet vehicles and reserve apparatus, keeping them clean, organized, fueled, and ready for service.

    Monitor and maintain fleet facility grounds, perform minor landscaping, make recommendations to the Fleet Manager when larger issues need addressed.

    Perform general facility maintenance such as changing light bulbs, changing furnace filters, equipment maintenance and repair, floor drain cleaning, and reporting major repairs to fleet manager.

    Assist with snow removal when necessary.

    MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED

    Position operates computer terminals, keyboards, hand tools, power tools, ladders, forklifts, cranes, heavy equipment, and registered department vehicles.
    TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS
    ENTRY LEVEL
    • High school diploma or GED equivalent
    • Successfully complete District provided driver training prior to driving any heavy apparatus (within three months of hire)
    • CDL preferred
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
    • Strong internal and external customer service
    • Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
    • Highly organized and able to multi-task and work under time constraints
    • Must be proficient in math and English
    • Must be proficient with utilization of smart devices
