    Residential Specialist, New Day Residential Program - Elizabeth, United States - RWJ Barnabas

    Job Overview:
    New Day Residential Program is a state specialty bed, residential level of care facility - group home.

    The program model is based on a community-oriented framework of practice, which includes the following characteristics: a culture of non-violence; shared governance; social responsibility and personal growth and change.


    The primary goal is to provide a caring, therapeutic environment that facilitates and promotes adaptive skill acquisition in a safe, supportive, environment for girls ages 15-19 year olds who reside in the program for nine months to a year.


    The program model is designed to respond to the needs of significantly traumatized young people who have severe behavioral and emotional disturbances.

    Youth admitted into the program demonstrate an array of behaviors that include but are not limited to impulse control, anger outbursts, assaultive behaviors, self-harming acts, and oppositional behaviors.

    An array of specialized treatments are incorporated into the trauma-focused model including, Sexually Reactive Behavior and Fire-Setting Specific Treatment. Comprehensive family treatment is done when applicable, which may include psycho-educational, group, and clinical family sessions.


    Qualifications:

    Required:

    • High School Diploma or GED
    • At least one year of work experience working with children and adolescents
    • Unencumbered current driver's license

    Preferred:

    • Bachelors Degree

    Scheduling Requirements:

    • Shift working, day/evening
    • Per Diem

    Essential Functions:

    • Supervise residents throughout the shift
    • Participate in and lead program activities at the direction/discretion of management
    • Document the daily log book on pertinent resident information
    • Provide psycho-educational groups, as directed by management
