    OSS STRUCTURAL ENGINEER
    required by our Client, within the Renewables industry, to be assigned on a Contract basis, located in Boston, MA.

    POSITION SCOPE
    The Offshore Substation Structural Engineer is a critical role within the Offshore Wind Industry.

    The individual will focus and get involved in platform structural design from concept to handover to operation, working with Multinational Partner(s), Contractors and regulatory authorities (CVA, BOEM, BSEE) ensuring that the Clients position is suitably protected at any agreements.


    The individual will be part of the management team for the delivery of a scope comprising the supply and installation of Park City Wind, an 800 MW offshore wind farm.

    Belonging to the EPC Services Team and Reporting to Head of Group Structural Department Manager, the Structural Engineer will be responsible for defining design strategies and plans, reviewing design deliverables, tendering clarifications, and exceptions.

    The individual will be involved into the FEED design phase followed with detailed design to a level to be approved by CVA/BOEM/BSEE.

    Role involves interface with multiple offshore contractors, including T&I, and associated interfaces, defining company and business standards and acceptance criteria, and ensuring quality, best practices and excellent H&SE performance are applied.


    The individual will be working as part of a global business with activities in many countries across the US and the rest of the world.

    The position may require travelling to various locations in the US and overseas and during development, contracting and delivery of platform package.


    PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES


    Work in the design, analysis & review of primary (i.e., foundations such as steel monopile, steel jacket) and secondary steel components for offshore wind turbines and offshore electrical substations in support of all phases of the project lifecycle, including planning, design (concept, FEED & detailed), construction and operation.

    Produce and review engineering calculations, designs, and details per project requirements and the latest industry codes and standards

    Prepare and review design deliverable documents and handle quality control validation of detailed calculations, design drawings, and specifications

    Visit site offices as required by the project (±10 percent of job responsibilities may take place out of the office)

    Have frequent in-person and virtual interfaces with Project Director, Project Manager, design team, BIM/CADD team, etc

    Have experience with structural dynamics, numerical modelling, 3D finite element analysis, integrated load analyses, monopile design, steel jacket design, fatigue analysis, design of offshore structures, industry software and program languages (e.g. STAAD Pro, SAP, ROBOT, SACS, SESAM, BLADED, SQL, Matlab, Python)

    Be experienced in interfacing with other discipline specialists (structural, geotechnical, steel, concrete, electrical, mechanical, BIM, CADD, etc.)

    Skills, Knowledge & Experience

    Degree and professional qualification in relevant engineering discipline – Structural, Naval Architectural

    Proven experience in the design & installation of offshore platforms and jackets

    Substantial experience in contracting, engineering design and delivery

    IT literate with the ability to operate MS Office systems and other IT based project management software


    Flexible to travel to attend meetings and work at different project sites in the US as well as Spain, England etc.

    Relevant experience in Constructability review, fabrication, load outs and installations.

    Good knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation associated with offshore/marine delivery substantial packages

    Good knowledge of offshore procedures, standards, and guides.

    Minimum Criteria

    Bachelor's Degree in relevant Engineering Discipline

    Be familiar with offshore codes (API, DNVGL, ISO, etc.)

    Ability to communicate verbally and in writing across various levels

    Flexible, team player and can work in multi-cultural teams

    Essential

    Master's Degree (in Structural Engineering)

    10 to 15 years' experience working as a structural engineer focusing on steel analysis and design

    Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.)
