    REPORTS TO: Building Principal, and or Special Service Director
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    • Help teacher prepare and adapt instructional materials and classroom displays
    • Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom
    • Help with inventory, care, and maintenance
    • Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports
    • Help with inventory and care of all equipment including technology, books, supplies, and classroom materials
    • Participate in staff development, training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned.
    • Work with individual student or small groups to develop motor skills and conduct instructional exercises assigned by teacher.
    • Help supervise assigned student throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
    • Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of the student
    • Maintain confidentiality.
    • Maintain reliable and regular attendance.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher, principal, or other school personnel supervisor.
    SPED Para Additional Functions:
    • Assist assigned student with disabilities according to their needs, including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting, or positioning.
    • Assist student with physical needs and personal care, including feeding, bathroom needs, and personal hygiene.
    • Help manage behavior of student. This includes intervening in crisis situations and restraining disruptive or dangerous student behavior as needed.
    • Assume responsibility for learning and adapting student's special educational, medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs.
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • A two or four- year college degree preferred,
    • 45 hours college credit from an accredited college,
    • passing score on the Praxis Exam, or Work Keys test
    • A good knowledge of and understanding of child growth and development; or any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
    • Pass Oklahoma State Department of Education Criminal Background check
    WORKING CONDITIONS:
    • Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
    • Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, push, or pull heavy objects or materials.
    • Occasionally requires physical exertion to restrain a student based on the CPI model (SPED)
    • Occasional stooping, bending, and reaching
