- Provide teaching services and classroom coverage when full-time teachers are unable to.
- Execute the lesson plans prepared by the teacher in a way that ensures consistency and optimal learning, and that encourages students to participate.
- Communicate with lead teacher with updates regarding how classes went.
- Assign classwork and homework as necessary, according to lesson plans.
- Modify teaching styles to fit the learning styles of various students.
- Maintain a well-managed classroom and positive learning environment.
- Supervise students out of class such as in the hallways and in the cafeteria as assigned.
- Create lesson plans, grade classwork, homework and tests and attend parent-teacher conferences (only for long-term sub assignments)
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Fluent English speaker and writer; multilingual skills in Spanish, Somali, or Vietnamese trongly preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Passion for making a positive impact in the lives of young individuals
- Flexible, friendly, and good at establishing quick rapport with high-school-aged students.
- Ability to establish structured classroom management with high expectations following warm demander teaching model.
- Candidates must complete Virtus training, sign a Code of Conduct and pass a background check.
