    Summary:

    The Perioperative Specialist manages inventory, supports medical devices, and coordinates repair and maintenance for equipment in the OR/Perioperative setting. This role focuses on various equipment crucial for surgical procedures.


    Responsibilities:


    • Conduct pre-case anesthesia rounds as per perioperative department requirements.
    • Maintain licensures and certifications for specialty radiology equipment in the OR.
    • Assist in the procurement process for medical devices, providing expertise in capital planning.
    • Perform daily maintenance on assigned equipment, managing vendor service when needed.
    • Label and catalog perioperative equipment for proper tracking in the hospital's inventory system.
    • Coordinate software updates for medical devices with strategic advisors and vendors.
    • Collaborate with department staff for efficient equipment recovery/replacement.
    • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and ensure resolution.
    • Adhere to sterile technique principles when necessary.
    • Participate in an equitable on-call schedule.
    • Uphold core values and standards in all duties.
    • Perform other assigned duties.

    Technical Service (40%):


    • Conduct performance inspections and maintenance on medical equipment.
    • Inform supervisors of repair status and any concerns.
    • Direct subcontractors and vendors for service delivery.
    • Maintain expertise through ongoing training.

    Regulatory Compliance (25%):


    • Ensure accuracy of equipment database and compliance with regulatory agencies.
    • Complete service and documentation accurately and timely.

    Account Relationship Management (25%):


    • Build and maintain customer relationships.
    • Discuss equipment status with customers.
    • Adhere to organizational mission, vision, and values.

    Inventory (10%):


    • Perform periodic inspections of inventory and maintain common failure parts inventory.
    • Verify security analysis for new equipment.
    • Conduct Incoming Inspections to maintain accurate inventory.
    • Make recommendations regarding inventory.

    Skills and Experience:


    • Minimum 5 years of biomedical equipment experience in a clinical engineering environment.
    • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
    • Focus on delivering exceptional customer service.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fastpaced clinical environment.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
    • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and perform physical tasks.
    • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
    • Valid driver's license required; variable travel may be needed.
    • Associates degree in a technical field or equivalent experience required; CBET certification preferred.
