    Safety Specialist

    This position is responsible for the administration of all health and safety policies and procedures as well as ensuring safe working practices are being followed by all employees. This position will also include but not limited to the following.

    • Implement all safety and health policies and procedures.
    • Complete weekly safety audits with safety committee members and work with Supervisors and Managers to ensure employee safety and regulatory compliance.
    • Participate in post incident investigations.
    • Attend and lead Safety Committee meetings.
    • Conduct follow up on all safety and health related incidents and ensures timely corrective actions are being taken.
    • Conduct monthly safety trainings.
    • Work with Managers and Supervisors to provide oversight for all safety and health issues.
    • Has functional authority throughout the plant for health and safety issues.
    • Coordinate and communicate regularly with all Hussey Copper employees concerning health and safety issues.
    • Participation in continuous improvement programs.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety Required.
    • Three years' previous experience preferred.
    • Must possess very strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Must be proficient in all Microsoft applications.
    • The ability to multi-task and work under pressure is required.

    HEALTH AND SAFETY:

    • Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.
    • Follow Company safety rules.
    • Report the absence of or defect in any protective equipment or clothing to the Supervisor or Manager immediately.
    • Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that is required to be used or worn:
    • Metatarsal Safety shoes
    • Safety glasses
    • Hearing protection
    • Hard Hat
    • Cut resistant sleeves and gloves
    • Report to the Safety Manager, Plant Manager or Operations Manager any contravention of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations or Company policy.
    • Must follow all Lock out Tag out (LOTO) guidelines for designated machines.
    • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
