    About The Opportunity

    GreatSchools is seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Grants and Partnerships to join our GreatSchools team. The successful candidate will excel in grant management, possess exceptional influencing skills, and demonstrate a keen ability to learn quickly in a cross-functional environment. Reporting to the VP, Fundraising and Editorial, the Senior Grants and Partnerships Manager will serve in a key role to lead the coordination of grant activities, drive partnership development efforts, and facilitate cross-functional collaboration to achieve our organization's goals. This is a fully remote position that can be based anywhere in the United States, requiring travel several times a year.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Partnership and Program Development:
      • Cultivate and steward relationships with key partners, including nonprofits, foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
      • Identify strategic partnership opportunities that align with organizational priorities and advance our mission.
      • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop partnership proposals and programs to maximize impact and sustainability.
      • Champion our mission and national profile by identifying partnership opportunities and projects with policy, advocacy, and grassroots organizations.
    • Proposal Development:
      • Lead the development of grant proposals, leveraging organizational expertise and insights to craft compelling narratives.
      • Foster collaboration among diverse stakeholders to gather input and feedback for proposal refinement.
      • Stay informed about funding opportunities, partnerships, and trends in the philanthropic landscape to identify strategic funding prospects.
    • Reports:
      • Take ownership of grant reporting processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with funder requirements and organizational tracking.
      • Synthesize complex data and information into clear and compelling reports for internal and external stakeholders.
      • Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership, leveraging data to inform decision-making.
    • Deliverables:
      • Partner closely with senior leadership to develop clear and achievable grant deliverables.
      • Coordinate cross-functional teams to meet grant deliverables deadlines, providing guidance and support as needed.
      • Proactively identify and address challenges to ensure timely and high-quality deliverable completion.
    • Cross-functional Coordination:
      • Act as a liaison between departments to facilitate communication, alignment, and collaboration on grant-related initiatives.
      • Use influencing skills to drive consensus and resolve misalignments among cross-functional teams.
      • Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes and enhance collaboration across the organization.
    • Tactical Grant Management:
      • Lead the planning and execution of grant activities, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
      • Support the entire grant lifecycle, from opportunity identification and proposal development to reporting and evaluation.
      • Oversee collaboration with internal stakeholders to manage deliverables, reporting, and meetings with funders and internal stakeholders.

    Qualifications:

    • Proven track record of successfully securing and managing grants from diverse funders.
    • Proven ability to cultivate and manage external relationships.
    • Minimum of five years of experience in grant management and partnerships or related fields.
    • Knowledge of fundraising best practices and trends in philanthropy.
    • Knowledge of K12 education field, including school choice landscape and national ecosystem of funders and nonprofits. Excellent verbal communication influencing skills, with the ability to build consensus and drive results in a cross-functional environment.
    • Excellent writing skills with experience in adapting tone/structure for different audiences and different contexts.
    • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
    • Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and learn new concepts and skills.
    • Bachelor's degree in a related field; advanced degree preferred.
    • Proficiency in Google Workspace, Slack, Confluence, and productivity/communication/project management tools used in remote work environments
    • Spanish language fluency (written and spoken) highly preferred

    • Travel up to 3 to 4 times annually primarily to the San Francisco Bay Area

    Salary & Benefits

    Base compensation for this role ranges from $85,000 to $105,000 for candidates residing in the Bay Area; salaries are dependent upon candidate location and experience.
