    Our client in Miami, FL is hiring a part-time (10 hours a week, 2 days a week, and onsite 1-2 times a month) Systems Software Programmer.

    Position Description:

    • Requires analysis, development, modification, installation, testing and maintenance of operating systems software.
    • Evaluation of vendor supplied software packages and make recommendations to IT management.
    • Modifying and/or debugging vendor-supplied utilities and packages.
    • Modify, install, and prepare technical documentation for system software applications. Diagnose, isolate and de-bug software problems and performing problem resolution.
    • Monitor systems capacity and performance, planning and executing disaster recovery procedures and providing Tier II technical support.
    • Possesses a strong understanding of systems programming, graphical user interfaces and control languages.
    • Ability to work independently or as a part of a team under general supervision and be able to mentor and coach junior technical staff in Legacy applications and software products for the Student Services Applications.


    Position is part-time, working a maximum of 10 hours per week.

    Responsibilities

    • Reporting maintaining and modifying different student formats to the DOE, as legislation mandates (FTE funding, Teacher allocations for World Languages Programs)
    • Reporting and maintaining data to be reported to the DOE pertaining to Class Size, FTE funding, and Teacher allocations for World Languages Programs.
    • Reporting, maintaining and modifying data for ESE and ESOL allocations for the District.
    • Reporting, maintaining, and modifying data for Virtual Schools calculations and DOE reporting Qualifications
    • Associate degree or higher in computer science, Information Systems, or another related field. Have more than 10 years' experience working on mainframe legacy systems.
    • Applicant is required to have knowledge of FLDOE K-12 FTE processes and data.
    • Programming languages required are COBOL, EZTrieve, CICS, BMC Control products, CLIST and Natural, OS-JCT, TSO and IBM Utility software.
    • Experience in working with the Department of Education in modifying existing systems for legislative mandates related to FTE, ELL, ESE and all other state reporting formats.
    • Experience in M-DCPS or another Florida District technology
