    Job FunctionsGeneral ResponsibilitiesResidents RightsSafetyStaff Development Food Preparation/Production Responsibilities Reviews menus, production and prep guides to determine type and quantities of food to be prepared.'Prepares all meal items according to planned menus and standardized recipes in a sanitary manner to ensure the utmost in quality with a minimum of wasteUses nutritionally equivalent substitutes when requiredOperates a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment, such as blender, mixer, fryer, slicer, steamer, food processor, convection oven, stove, conventional oven, steam table and tilt skilletOperates a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment, such as blender, mixer, fryer, slicer, steamer, food processor, convection oven, stove, conventional oven, steam table and tilt skilletWash, peel, cut, and shreds vegetables and fruits to prepare for useTests and observes food by tasting for palatabilitySlices portions of meat for individual servingsFollows recipesAdd gravies, sauces, and garnishes as requiredPrepares and assists with special function mealsCompletes work assignmentsMeal Service ResponsibilitiesFood Safety Administrative Responsibilities Special Activities/Attributes EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred.

    Ability to read and write, required. ExperienceOne to two years as cook in a large scale cooking operation, preferred.
