Join Amazon's Cross Border team as we transform international logistics by providing end-to-end supply chain solutions for customers worldwide.
In this role, you will manage customs clearance operations across ocean, air, rail, and truck shipments while ensuring compliance with U.S.
and international trade regulations.You will serve as a key liaison between freight forwarders, sellers, vendors, and government agencies to facilitate smooth cross-border operations.
This position offers the opportunity to develop expertise in customs compliance, work with diverse regulatory frameworks, and directly impact the efficiency of Amazon's global supply chain operations.
- Provide support for customs clearance inquiries and resolve operational issues for crossborder shipments
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, sellers, and vendors on shipment documentation and preparation requirements
- Monitor shipment clearance status and escalate issues to appropriate teams when necessary
- Review and audit data entry for customs entry filing, classifications, and inspection requirements
- Maintain relationships with government agencies to address operational inquiries and requests
- Build and maintain standard operating procedures for regulatory requirements and updates
- Share subject matter expertise on customs regulations and changes with operations teams across multiple locations
As a Senior Compliance Specialist, you will start your day reviewing shipment statuses and identifying any clearance delays or documentation issues.
You will communicate with internal stakeholders including operations teams, account managers, and logistics coordinators to resolve compliance challenges.Throughout the day, you will audit customs entries for accuracy, respond to inquiries from sellers and vendors about import requirements, and coordinate with customs brokers on complex clearance scenarios.
You will work closely with government agencies such as U.S. Customs and Border Protection, FDA, and other Partner Government Agencies to address inspections, holds, or regulatory questions. Your expertise will help educate internal teams and external partners on tariff classifications, free trade agreements, and import restrictions. You may also contribute to process improvement initiatives by identifying compliance risks and developing solutions to enhance operational efficiency.About the team
The Global Logistics Cross Border team is responsible for providing customers with comprehensive international transportation services and end-to-end supply chain solutions.
Our team manages customs compliance for thousands of shipments daily across multiple transportation modes and trade lanes. We support each other's professional development and encourage team members to develop specialized expertise in areas such as specific product verticals, trade agreements, or regulatory frameworks.
You will work with colleagues across origin and destination locations globally, contributing to a network that keeps Amazon's international supply chain moving efficiently.
- High school diploma
- 2+ years of supply chain experience
- 2+ years of advanced Microsoft Word and Excel experience
- 2+ years experience in Customs Operations or Customs Compliance role
- 2+ years experience working with US Customs rules and regulations or advanced working knowledge
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience using analytical thinking and problemsolving skills to identify root causes of technical problems
- Experience effectively communicating complex concepts through written and verbal communication
- Licensed customs broker
- Experience interpreting regulatory language and applying it to operational scenarios
- Experience troubleshooting customs entry systems including Automated Broker Interface (ABI), Automated Commercial Environment (ACE), or Automated Manifest System (AMS)
- Experience with customs reference resources such as CROSS, Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), or internal compliance databases
- A degree of Customs specialization in some role or capacity (Verticals)

Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
