    Description

    Develop systems to ensure the dental programs operate efficiently.
    Develop and execute plans, policies and programs that support efficient delivery of dental services.
    Ensure resources are provided to support proper kind, quality, and quantity in delivery of care.
    Assist with development of clinical initiatives that support operational improvements including dental care access, utilization, and visits.

    Review programs, initiate, and evaluate new methods and modify procedures to provide better dental care and to effect greater efficiency in operation.

    Report, investigate and manage all potential/actual claims.
    Ensure unit meets all JCAHO and other regulatory compliance guidelines.
    Development of a dental quality improvement plan including peer review.
    Supervise and manage the staff of the dental department.

    training and development.
    Evaluate organizational structure; reporting relationships to ensure performance standards are obtained.
    Develop policies and plan for internships, residency programs and other training programs.

    Provide management leadership and direction to the Dental Department.

    Develop, implement. and maintain the budget ensuring operations are managed withinestablished guidelines and look to maximize revenues.
    Participate in meetings and committees in discussions of goals, visions, and strategicplans for Dental Services.
    Provide effective communication of Health Center vision, goals and procedures toassignedpersonnel and provide for communication from staff to management.
    Seek funding opportunities to support public health initiatives and other dental services in conjunction with the development office.


    Facilitate ongoing relations with other areas within the health center and support collaborations at a community and institutional level externally.

    Represent the Health Center, department, and dental programs at meetings internally and externally.
    Integrate unit operation with other clinical programs and administrative supportservices.

    Oversight and management for the school dental program at Dorchester High School and other school programs to ensure programs are operating efficientlyand according to established standards.

    Develop and maintain relationships with Academic, Hospital and otherinstitutional partners.
    Perform community outreach to publicize and implement the Oral HealthProgram.

    Provide clinical dental services to Health Center clients.

    Examine patients and determine dental care needs.
    Provide the scope of dental services based upon standards and privileges.
    Assess and treat dental emergencies.
    Maintain licenses, credentialing, and re-credentialing.
    Adhere to documentation standards.

    Instruct patients on proper dental care.

    Qualifications


    Qualifications and Skills:
    License to practice Dentistry in the State of Massachusetts3-5 years practice experience.
    Eligible for certification by the Board of the American Dental Association.
    Previous supervisory skills as a manager or in an administrative or teaching capacity.
    Experience with regulatory compliance, public health programs, outreach activities, and school-based programs a plus.
    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written.
