    Iris Scientific is a specialty recruitment agency laser focused on sales, marketing, and technical roles in the North American Scientific Instrumentation Industry.

    We are working with a market leading global microscopy and imaging instrumentation manufacturer to find a field-based

    Advanced Microscopy Field Service Engineer covering Boston and Region. The candidate should be based out of a major center in the area.

    (a relocation package will be offered to well qualified candidates).

    This position is responsible for the installation and maintenance of cutting edge advanced microscopy systems (confocal, multiphoton, super resolution) for life sciences customers.

    It is ideally suited to an engineer, scientist, or technician with:
    considerable experience with confocal and advanced microscopy
    familiarity with opto-electrical system construction, assembly, and troubleshooting
    advanced knowledge of computers and software
    a resilient "can do" attitude and a desire to solve complex problems
    the ability to travel extensively throughout the Region - with significant overnight travel required
    US work authorization (visa sponsorships are generally not considered).

    Key Responsibilities:
    Assemble confocal systems; calibrate and adjust laser fixtures and lasers.
    Define and install software applications.
    Integrate computers to allow both application specific visual data output and recording.
    Assist in confirming confocal image output and data to specific customer application needs.
    Assist with installations for sales demonstrations.
    Perform on-site repairs at customer facilities.
    Communicate, troubleshoot and solve any service related problems with customers or sales personnel.
    Assist customers/users in establishing data and communication links to ensure files can be transmitted to servers/networks.
    Travel to field installations, as needed or necessary.
    Unpack and assemble confocal components and repack for shipment.
    Work outside of normal hours of operation, as needed, in order to fulfill essential functions and responsibilities

    Ancillary responsibilities:
    Assist in assembly, alignment and quality control of incoming systems.
    Attend and/or conduct training courses and seminars as needed.
    All other duties as required or needed.

    Qualifications:
    5-8 years experience in related Confocal microscopy applications
    BS required (Biology or Mechanical / Electrical Engineering preferred)
    MS or PhD Strongly Preferred
    Experience with MS applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
    Advanced knowledge of computer hardware and software
    Strong knowledge of microscopy and scientific instruments
    Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, optical instrumentation preferred.
    Demonstrated communication and presentation skills
    Ability to lift and carry up to 30lbs
    Ability to work outside of regularly scheduled work hours as needed
    Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintain them over time.
    Must be fully fluent in English
    Ability to travel overnight up to 65% of the time
    Requires a valid current drivers license
    Must be authorized to work in the United States
