    A day in the a Track Laborer, your duty is to oversee and assist with maintenance of train tracks. follow all train order, train signals, and railroads rules and regulations, to transport passengers or freight by performing the following duties.


    Requirements:Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirement listed below is representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must have valid driver's license. · Construction, maintenance, inspection, and repair of railroad tracks. · Enforce compliance with safety procedures.· Fulfill duties (operator, laborer, etc.) as needed to keep jobs moving forward. · Perform other duties as directed. · All aspects of Right of Way · Track road base · Support structures- including bridges · Track inspection · Maintenance of Way equipment knowledge · Tree trimming / weed abatement · Accident maintenance.
    Hand-eye coordination- Track Laborers must be able to operate various controls while staying aware of their surroundings.
    Mechanical skills- All rail employees work with complex machines. Most have to be able to adjust equipment when it does not work properly.
    Physical strength- Track laborers have to lift equipment up to 50 pounds.
    Speaking skills- Track Laborers must be able to speak clearly so other railroad employees and sometimes passengers understand what they are saying.
    Work Environment- While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to loud noise, moving machinery parts, outdoor weather conditions and elements, airborne particles and fumes from gas, oil, and grease.
    Drug Free- track laborers must pass a Standard FRA Drug and Alcohol test and will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
    Knowledge & Abilities · Methods, techniques, and tools used in track repair and maintenance. · FRA regulations & practices as they relate to Maintenance of Way. · Occupational hazards and safety procedure involved in Railroad construction. · Use hand tools, power tools, and hydraulic equipment.
    Physical · Heavy work, lifting & carrying up to 100 pounds. · Frequent walking and standing. · Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, balancing, climbing. · Demonstrate auditory and visual acuity, tracking and inspection.
