    Description
    The Department of Pharmacology, at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, seeks Postdoctoral Research Associates to work in the laboratory of Dr. Julius Zhu. The focus of this lab position is to combine cutting-edge new technologies to dissect the neural mechanisms for behavior and diseases.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Applicants must have PhD and/or MD degree(s) in hand by start date. Preferred applicants will have multiple years of experience in molecular biology, advanced electrophysiology, imaging and/or behavioral analysis with publications in recognized peer-reviewed journals. Applicants with their own grant/fellowship support are particularly welcome. The qualified individual is expected to contribute to the writing of manuscripts and grants.

    Postdoctoral employment is normally limited to an individual who has been awarded a doctoral degree within the previous five years. This is a 12-month appointment with the possibility of renewal ( for an additional two, one-year increments) contingent upon satisfactory performance and the availability of funding. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

    This position will remain open until filled. The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment. A completed pre-employment health screen is required for this position prior to employment.
