    PRN MRI Technician Job Summary

    The PRN MRI Technician is responsible for performing Magnetic Resonance Imaging procedures to create detailed images of tissues and organs. This role involves assisting with patient preparation, conducting quality assurance on MRI equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

    This position requires flexibility in scheduling, including weekend and overnight shifts, and supports the organization's commitment to compassionate healthcare.

    Job Description

    • Perform MRI Procedures: Prepare patients for MRI exams, explain procedures, administer contrast when necessary, position patients for the MRI scanner, select appropriate imaging techniques, and ensure technical quality of the scan.
    • Enter and Monitor Patient Data:
    • Perform Quality Assurance: Conduct quality assurance on magnetic resonance equipment and matrix camera. Assist with initial and renewal applications for ACR and other accreditation.
    • Identify and Report Incidents: Identify and report any accidents, complaints, or equipment malfunctions to department management.
    • Take Emergency Calls: Take emergency calls within the department.
    • Ensure Safe Care: Ensure safe care to patients, staff, and visitors; adhere to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications.
    • Promote Individual Growth: Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency.
    • Demonstrate Commitment to Caring: Demonstrate commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences.
    • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
    • Licenses/Certifications: Certified in Basic or Advanced Life Support, required. One of the following: Registered MRI Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-MR) or Registered MRI Technologist by the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT)
    • Experience/Knowledge/Skills: Ability to lift and/or maneuver patients in conjunction with others in order to perform job functions
