    Job DescriptionThe Production Engineer
    • Coaters will provide project leadership and technical support to the coating operations.
    This position will focus on driving improvement through changes to equipment, methods, grade designs, etc. This is a developmental position with future growth expected.

    Essential Duties and Specific ResponsibilitiesLead improvement projects to enhance quality, improve yields, reduce downtime, increase speeds, reduce costs, and reduce working capitalTrack performance and identify areas for improvementAnalyze production losses to identify root cause, solutions, and preventionsDevelop new procedures and train operatorsBuild operator-based systems for improved troubleshootingEnsure proper grade and process specifications are within process capability including center lining key variablesAssist with machine shutdowns and startups including follow-up on maintenance tasksAssist superintendents in building and managing operator roundsAssist with setting proper productivity standards and bill of materials by gradeLead projects to create a visual workplace, reduce waste, and minimize variationProvide coverage for shift leadership and/or superintendent when absentProvide rotational weekend coverage for coater operationsWork in a safe manner and help others do so as wellQualificationsExperience - 2 to 5 years of experience in paper, converting, or coating industry preferred.

    Competencies
    • Strong leadership skills, passion to drive improvement, sound communication skills, highly motivated, team player, accountable, and responsible for decisions and impact.
    Experience with project management and lean/six sigma methods a plus.
    Education
    • B.
    S. in pulp and paper or chemical engineering preferred. Other technical disciplines will be considered with right experience.
