    Position Description

    Opportunity for a software developer to support the development and maintenance of flight controller applications for NASA's Johnson Space Center Mission Control Center.

    These applications are used by the flight controllers to support spacecraft for various NASA programs including the International Space Station (ISS), Lockheed Martin's Orion, the Boeing Starliner, the Gateway (lunar space station), and the Human Landing Systems (HLS) which will take astronauts to the lunar surface.

    Responsibilities

    The developer will work in a team environment and will be responsible for software design, coding, testing, and documentation (such as user guides).

    The developer will also provide on-site support for key mission-related events such as launches, landings, extravehicular activities, etc.

    The developer will provide training to users of the software, where necessary, and will provide both oral and written status to those overseeing the work.

    Basic Qualifications
    B.S. in Computer Science or similar degree
    C++ and Java experience, with good understanding of Object Oriented programming
    Unix or Linux Operating System experience
    Good problems-solving skills
    Good oral and written communication skills
    Good interpersonal skills – must be a team player
    Must be able to pass a government background check and meet basic security clearance requirements.

    Desired Qualifications
    Experience with software configuration management tools like Subversion and Git
    Experience with Integrated Development Environments like Netbeans and Eclipse
    Knowledge of Agile development practices
    Experience with the Python programming language
    Some experience with Windows development using Visual Studio
