- Lead product development/R&D efforts (internal and through external partnerships) through coordination with Marketing, Product and Operations Management, to develop new and improved products to help DSG-Canusa's meet its SPBP growth objectives. Development and improvement efforts related to all of the division's technology platforms, currently representing approximately >$66 million/yr in revenue (DSG Americas)
- Through direct reports, lead internal/external test programs for new product development for key customers, certifications and projects to support revenue growth and maintenance
- Plan, supervise, co-ordinate, and execute technical development key projects from concept to completion in accordance with APQP development process and HSE targets
- Ensure team is equipped with the right mix of hardware/equipment/resources to seamlessly execute without barriers (CAPEX planning)
- Liaise with global counterparts and support product development and experience sharing and implementation in these regions
- Support with developing technical presentations for delivery to specific customers/partners to position DSG-Canusa as trusted technical expert
- Develop R&D partnership arrangements with consultants, academic institutions and/or key business partners (with Manager approval), as needed to execute product development priorities.
- Align groups execution plans with annual R&D budget and effectively deliver budget >1% investment
- Lead, manage and develop employees' through specific training and development plans
- Develop & Maintain new Product Development Project Funnel/Listing including New Product Development Project tracking, control and oversight of all live and non-live projects – documentation & dashboard for visibility across departments
- Supervise to maintain Lab Equipment and ensure all operating procedures are up to date
- Conduct Environmental Health & Safety Training
- Liaise with customers and suppliers and foster relationships
- Keep up-to-date on material and product technologies and new trends
- Report activities in a clear concise manner through written and oral communication and ensure that Monthly Reports are completed month end.

Accountable for the long-term planning and DSG-Canusa ́s global development activities occurring within the Product Development and Improvement functions.
Accountable for the efficient delivery of development services to Sales and Operations for custom and complex engineered product solutions, suppliers and supply chain maintenance and regulatory maintenance projects
Product Development – Accountable for the delivery of strategic new products, improvements and technologies with H1/H2/H3 timeframes, as well as supporting day to day technical needs of other departments as material and technology experts. Support and/or oversight of strategic technology development (R&D) partnerships and IP development, as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or Materials Science or Chemical Engineering
MSc or PhD degree in Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry - preferred
Minimum 3 years of related experience
Work experience with shape memory polymeric materials and understanding of Wire & Cable Insulation and Jacket compounds and project management skills
Chemical or Plastics material science background, strong technical knowledge of thermoplastics, and Elastomers and Hot-melt-adhesives as well as Polymer processing, cross-linking technologies
Experience with compounding process of polyolefin or other engineering plastic material and compounding machinery (Laboratory compounding + Extrusion), familiar with formulation design
Experience in project management, result driving and timeline,
Understanding of APQP, DFMEA and other Development Process tools
Strong people management & leadership skills
Self-starter with a demonstrated ability to complete programs in a timely and organized manner with limited supervision
Strong inter-personal skills and willingness to operate within a team.
Able to develop and nurture internal relationships with many disciplines to achieve objectives
Ability to focus under high stress situations
