    SDL is seeking an undergraduate or graduate student in Computer Science or similar field at Utah State University to assist full time software developers and software testers in developing and testing VANTAGE plugins that are used for imagery sensor data processing

    This position is year-round, part-time employment, not a summer internship
    The work week consists of 15-20 hours per week during the school year and potentially 30-40 hours per week during the summer
    Students design their schedule each semester to accommodate their classes
    We simply require that they work their hours on weekdays between 7am-6pm
    Students generally keep their position until they graduate and may be retained up to one semester after graduation as they apply for full time positions
    This position is in the C4ISR division, MSB branch
    We are somewhat flexible on a start date but generally we are looking for candidates to start in the next 2 months
    When hired, the student team member will be part of the full software development and test process, and will be expected to assist in the design, documentation, writing, reviewing, debugging, and testing of software
    Students will be expected to learn and follow the same process as full-time developers
    The members of our team frequently interact with other VANTAGE teams and hardware engineers in the design, implementation, and testing of their features as well
    Job-specific training will be provided

    Required Qualifications:

    • Willing and able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance
    Getting a DoD clearance means being a US citizen age 18 and up, and providing the DoD information about your personal history which is used for an extensive background check
    Passing this background check is a requirement for continued employment

    • Availability to work a minimum of 15 hours per week during school and up to 40 hours through school breaks
    • Must be a USU student working toward a MS/BS in computer science, engineering, or related field
    • Competence writing software in at least 1 language at the level of a Computer Science College Sophomore
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills
    • Effective and responsible management of time
    Ability to be part of and successfully operate in a team environment Preferred Qualifications:


    • Demonstrated ability to learn new systems and software quickly
    • Knowledge of git, Cmake, Windows/Linux OS, github, C++, or boost
    • Favorable GPA
    • History of computer science related extracurricular activities, hobbies, or jobs
