    Anglepoint's software engineering department based in Lindon, UT seeks a dynamic, highly skilled & experienced Principal Data Architect to revolutionize our data landscape within a new enterprise-scale, cloud-native, microservices-driven platform, providing data processing, abstraction, and reporting that empower our service delivery and internal business units to achieve next-level productivity and client value.

    This is a hands-on technical position that requires both breadth and depth in Data Architecture, Data Warehousing, and Business Intelligence, as well as delivering integrated data solutions that enable data-driven decision-making. This role demands profound understanding & application of modern data engineering methods & practices and leading-edge data architectures & technologies. As the sole hands-on enterprise data architect, the person in this role must be up to date with the latest data engineering trends, technologies, and best practices, and not allow familiarity bias to compromise their objectivity in making critical decisions. This role is also responsible for actively shaping our data ecosystem, requiring hands-on coding and the ability & motivation to effectively lead, teach, & inspire other engineers with diverse skillsets to increase their contributions to data excellence.

    As Principal Data Architect, you:

    • Lead the design, development, and implementation of cost effective, cloud-based data architecture solutions, ensuring alignment with product and scalability requirements.
    • Collaborate seamlessly with the Principal Software Architect to ensure data architecture elegantly aligns with emerging & evolving platform architecture.
    • Architect & optimize data pipelines, storage solutions, and data governance frameworks to enable secure & efficient data processing, storage, & retrieval, as well as compelling presentation & reporting.
    • Create overarching data standards & architectural blueprints that meet platform-wide objectives; translate business & technical requirements of individual solutions into data schemas & data handling approaches that align to these overarching standards & blueprints.
    • Expertly align, refine, & document data requirements across various functional stakeholders, including service product owners, product managers, department leaders, data analysts, and software engineers; deliver end-to-end data & reporting solutions that meet both business & technical requirements.
    • Define & implement ML/AI strategies, models, and algorithms to normalize, cleanse, and enrich data, turning it into useful information from which to extract & present insights that inform decision-making and streamline business processes.
    • Provide technical leadership & mentorship to data analysts & engineers, software engineers, DevOps engineers, & SDETs, fostering a culture of innovation, knowledge-sharing, and data excellence.
    • Flexibly manage multiple workstreams & priorities; proactively inform stakeholders of status, risks, tradeoffs, and constraints.

    Required Qualifications:

    • 6+ years architecting, designing, & implementing scalable cloud services and modern data solutions.
    • 4+ years using cloud-native data services and related AI/ML capabilities in at least 2 of AWS, GCP, & Azure.
    • 4+ years using modern platforms & technologies, such as big data, data warehouses, data lakes, and data lakehouses; proficiency with Elixir; proficiency with Snowflake; familiarity with Databricks.
    • Deep mastery of principles of good data architecture, data modeling, & data warehousing.
    • Design and develop efficient & secure connector frameworks and modern connectors (including APIs) to push/pull data from both on-prem and cloud-based systems, including from technology partners.
    • Experience creating technology stacks at enterprise scale; experience building micro-services.
    • Experience in ML/AI model development, including cost-effective training, monitoring, and deployment.
    • Demonstrated ability to own & drive a development roadmap, including defining architecture, engineering standards, and documentation best practices.
    • Experience designing & building modern APIs; proficiency within both REST architecture and GraphQL.
    • Experience implementing modern BI platforms; experience developing predictive analytics.
    • Experience implementing automated workflow, such as using dbt for BigQuery transformations, orchestrated by Apache Airflow and/or Kubernetes, with industry standard CI/CD tools.
    • Strong programming skills and hands-on development experience in Python and SQL.
    • Experience collecting, using, and managing PII in compliance with privacy laws, including GDPR & CCPA.
    • Ability & willingness to travel to and work from office in Lindon, UT at least twice per week.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's and/or master's degree(s) in computer science, engineering, data science, or related fields.
    • Hands-on experience with modern big-data technologies such as Apache Spark or Presto.
    • Experience in backend engineering; experience with database administration.
    • Experience effectively managing costs of cloud & software infrastructure, including services & data storage, ensuring optimal utilization of cloud resources; experience dynamically scaling to address data processing spikes by reliably leveraging spot instances.
    • Experience in MLOps.
