    JOB SUMMARY


    Performs a variety of brow and lash services including brow waxing and tinting, brow stenciling, brow shaping, lash enhancements, lash tinting and lash lifting to residents and associates of John Knox Village, as well as outside customers.

    Knowledge of the latest brow and lash products on the market is essential. Works with Manager of Salon Services to promote individual and collective salon services. Supportive of the Village's mission, values, and service/hospitality (PRIDE) expectations. Completes training as required by policy.


    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    • After proper consultation, apply semi-permanent dye to tint, enhance, shape, darken and define eyebrow area. May need to stencil eyebrows to create an illusion of fuller, thicker, and longer brows.
    • Designs specific eyelash treatments, to include lash tinging and lash lifting.
    • Keep area safe and sanitary, following all sanitation requirements set forth by the Missouri Board of Cosmetology.
    • Open and close salon.
    • Keep a record of services and authorizations.
    • Inventory stock and order supplies as necessary to get maximum quality service at the most reasonable cost.
    • Works with Concierge to schedule appointments with residents and associates of John Knox Village.
    • Positively interacts and works constructively in a team with co-workers.
    • Assist clients in and out of chair for service without causing potential injury to themselves or clients.
    • Sweeps and cleans workstation after customers, keeping salon clean and in order on a regular basis.
    • Listens to and has compassion for customers.
    • Works with Manager of Salon Services to promote salon services; partners with other salon associates to serve the customer and build salon business; visits with potential customers and promoting other services the salons offer.
    • Adheres to all safety regulations and requirements.
    • Handles stress well and gets along with others within the workplace and with customers outside the department.
    • Maintains acceptable standards of workplace conduct.
    • Must meet productivity standards and targets.
    The responsibilities described above represent the primary responsibilities of the job. Other responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor as warranted by business needs. The incumbent is expected to perform all assigned responsibilities.


    ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:

    • High school education or general education degree (GED) required.

    Licenses/Certifications:

    • Current Missouri Esthetician license is required.

    Knowledge and Skills (required unless otherwise noted):

    • Basic use of Word, Outlook, etc. preferred.
    • Basic level keyboarding skills required.
    • Basic understanding of computer cashiering system preferred.
    • Previous experience working with seniors preferred.
    • 1 year hair nail technician experience preferred.
    • Strong interpersonal, teamwork and customer service skills.
    • Ability to write simple sentences, paragraphs and correspondence.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

    SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS

    • Work is performed in indoor settings.
    • Expected to work on Saturdays and participate in Village wide events.
    • All associates may be called upon to assist other departments in a declared emergency situation.

    • Light Work - Exerting up to 20 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
    • The associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
    • May need to stoop/bend, kneel, crawl, reach. Standing for long periods of time.
    • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
    • Must be able to speak and hear.
    • The associate is required to function around individuals with challenged mental capacities.

    Receives direction from Manager of Salon Services.
