Description
The Hampden County Sheriff's Office is seeking a highly motivated Recovery Specialist who will be responsible for carrying a caseload and completing casework tasks including individualized service and discharge plans for men in our care at the Stonybrook Stabilization and Treatment Center in Ludlow, Massachusetts. The Recovery Specialist facilitates psycho-educational and treatment groups, completes assessments, establishes and maintains a counseling relationship with clients, and analyzes pertinent information for purpose of developing discharge plans and addressing community concerns. The Recovery Specialist maintains relevant information and submits reports as necessary to perform duties to promote the safe, effective and efficient operation of the institution.
Possible Shift Assignments:
Our staff enjoy a generous salary with annual step raises, and state benefits including excellent health care options, dental coverage, life insurance, long-term disability coverage, and paid time off. There are also several annual bonuses awarded for physical fitness, performance, and educational achievements. And if you're forward-thinking, the Commonwealth's pension retirement plan is outstanding.
Requirements
The Stonybrook Stabilization & Treatment Center is not your average substance use disorder treatment facility. Created by Sheriff Nick Cocchi in 2018 to help people battling addiction, the opening of the facility more than doubled the number of treatment beds in the western half of Massachusetts.
Although the facility is operated under the umbrella of the Hampden County Sheriff's Office, it is a standalone facility with specially-trained treatment staff.
The Stonybrook Stabilization and Treatment Center provides evidence-guided, trauma-informed, and family-focused medically-managed withdrawal and post-withdrawal care in Ludlow, Massachusetts. Psycho-educational programs draw from proven models with SUD & CJ participants, scaled for appropriate engagement in the weeks following withdrawal.
The clients are admitted to the facility under the Commonwealth's Section 35 law, which provides a way to commit someone for treatment under certain conditions relative to their substance use. The commitment lasts from 30 to 90 days, depending upon the outcome of regular reviews but our average length of stay is around 50 days, which provides a solid amount of time to adequately prepare someone for success in their journey toward long-term recovery.
If you want to help make the world a better place by helping people with substance use disorder, consider joining our team
