    Description

    The Federal Income Tax Manager leads a team in finding and computing federal and state tax interest and other tax payment opportunities. The Manager will diagnose, develop, and implement solutions for the client tax needs. The Manager will also direct tax research, formulate tax plans and perform tax reviews.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Leads team in developing project workplans and scheduling associated project deliverables.
    • Acts as a mentor, guiding team members on their career paths.
    • Builds strong relationships with clients through quality work.
    • Prepares tax interest computations and explains computations to clients
    • Assists with client billing and financial forecasting.
    • Responds to client inquiries and requests from tax authorities.
    • Maintains a professional and positive attitude at all times, being a team player and able to multi-task and adjust to changing priorities.
    • Manages income tax projects, especially in the complex interest area as well as other federal tax planning opportunities.
    • Works effectively in a complex, deadline-driven environment.
    • Handles tasks in a timely manner and with a high degree of accuracy
    • Safeguards confidential information and sensitive material.
    • Possesses solid analytical aptitude, research, and problem-solving skills.
    • Utilizes strong grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills.
    • Reviews documentation and researches issues as needed.

    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    Education and Experience:
    • Accounting undergraduate and/or Masters in Tax
    • 7+ years of experience in the area of interest, transcript comprehension and rules related to statute of limitations.
    • 5+ years of experience working directly on IRS interest computations.
    • Experience with tax controversy matters is preferred.
    Computer Skills:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research. Experience with DMI software is preferred.

    Certificates and Licenses:

    Valid driver's license required.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    May directly supervise employees in the income tax practice, and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Firm's policies and applicable laws.

    Work Environment:
    • Standard indoor working environment
    • Occasional long periods of sitting while working at the computer
    • Position requires regular interaction with employees at all levels of the Firm
    • Interact with clients and external vendors as necessary
    • Independent travel requirement: 0% - 10%
    • 40+ hour standard workweek requirement
    • Position requires regular interaction with employees and clients both in person and via e-mail and telephone.
    • Forty plus hour standard work week requirement
    Compensation Disclosures:
    • For California-based roles, the base salary hiring is dependent on geographical location. For candidates in the first range, the base salary is $82,500 - $108,350. For candidates in other areas, the base salary is $90,000 - $118,250
    • For Colorado-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $79,000 - $103,400
    • For New York-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $90,000 - $118,250
    • For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $82,500 - $108,350
    • This role is eligible for incentive compensation.
