ExperienceOne (1) year of experience preferred performing radiologic procedures in a hospital, clinic, or physician's office Radiologic TechnologistPosition SummaryPrepares patients for examinations, explains procedures, and responds to patient questions.

Performs diagnostic radiologic procedures as ordered by physicians while ensuring patient safety, image quality, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiologyKnowledge of radiologic equipment, procedures, and safety hazards, including proper body mechanics and patient movementAbility to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and staffAbility to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructionsAbility to identify and troubleshoot equipment problems and perform minor adjustmentsLicense / Certification / RegistrationRegistered with the ARRT in RadiologyCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per American Heart Association standards, renewed every two yearsEssential FunctionsPatient Care and Technical DutiesGreets patients courteously and verifies patient identity using two identifiers (name and date of birth)Reviews exam requests and evaluates orders for appropriatenessExplains procedures in terms patients can understandCoordinates scheduling and orders with physician offices and nursing staffPrepares and positions patients for examinations using appropriate techniquesObtains correct imaging views for diagnostic purposesOperates CR, DR, and Fluoroscopy rooms safely and efficientlyPerforms equipment startup and shutdown proceduresOperates CR readers and printersTransfers images to PACS, scans documents, and routes studies appropriatelyChanges exam priority to STAT or URGENT when necessaryAssists Radiologists and Fluoroscopy Technologists during fluoroscopic and special proceduresTransports and operates portable radiographic equipment in:

Emergency DepartmentOperating RoomPACUNursing unitsUses proper sterile technique in the operating room and during applicable proceduresPrepares and administers IV and oral contrast media as requiredVerbalizes and follows protocols for contrast reactions and documentationDocuments patient symptoms, history, imaging limitations, exam date/time, and technologist initials in PACSMaintains assigned rooms and keeps work areas clean and orderlyDemonstrates radiation safety practices in accordance with ALARA standardsEscorts patients throughout the department and hospital as neededProvides excellent customer service to patients, staff, and visitorsClerical and Administrative DutiesMonitors workflow using PACS, image release systems, and CD burnersAssists with office functions as neededPerforms clerical tasks during off shiftsQuality Assurance and EducationComplies with and performs assigned quality assurance dutiesExplains policies, procedures, and clerical functions to radiology students as directedNon-Essential FunctionsPerforms related and miscellaneous duties as assignedMinimum Requirements

Education

High School diploma or equivalent
