    Pay Transparency Act- Western University of Health Sciences is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role.

    This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.

    It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position.

    Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range for this position is defined as the Full Pay Range.

    The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position defined as the Expected Pay Scale.

    Placement within the Expected Pay Scale is determined by internal equity, and relevant qualifications.

    Job Summary
    The Financial/Budget Analyst II duties include high level reporting analysis of institutional budgets. Review and analyze budget data, identifying gaps and finding data to answer key questions. Monitor organizational spending to ensure that it is within budget. This position is responsible for executing routine and non-routine financial operations to support the management.
    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Good computer skills necessary in order to set up document formats in Excel, Word, Banner accounting system, Internet, and e-mail. Flexibility in job assignments a must.
    • Good mathematical skills, including the ability to operate a 10-key calculator. Ability to handle detail-oriented assignments with accuracy. Must have ability to reconcile and verify the accuracy of activities. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
    • Good verbal communication skills and ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to effectively interact and assist with administration, faculty, and staff.
    Required Qualifications

    Education:

    • Bachelor's Degree required.

    Experience:

    • Experience with data modification required, must be highly proficient user of spreadsheets and databases.
    • Must possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with proven ability to research, formulate, and present analysis on a variety of financial issues.
    Preferred Qualifications

    Education:

    • Finance concentration for Bachelor's degree, preferred.

    Experience:

    Two or more years in a complex organization preparing analysis and financial reports using statistical, cost, and financial data.

    Job Duty

    Analysis and Projects:

    • Prepares monthly, quarterly budget salary variance reports. Including any hoc reports as requested.
    Provide analysis and participate in the preparation of budget related documents.

    • Assist with Budget vs. Actual Year to Date analysis on monthly, quarterly and year end basis.
    • Assist with research and analysis of reports.

    • Periodic (monthly, quarterly, & year-end) reconciliation of budget accounts in the various colleges/departments.
    • Gathering and entering budget data.
    • Reconciliation of budget operating and capital funds.

    Policy and Procedures:

    • Assists with the reviews and edits of the budget policies and procedures on a periodic basis.
    • Maintains familiarity with the University's accounting and budgeting policies and procedures.
    • Conformity with generally accepted accounting principles, governmental accounting & standards, and compliance with federal and state regulations
    • Demonstrate an understanding of how transactions impact the general ledger and the impact on the financial statements as well as the operating budget reports.

    • Serves as the back up for the coordination and process of personnel requests and personnel action forms for budget review.
    • Maintains the security and passwords of the BudgetPak software.

    Budget Transfers and Other Duties:

    • Coordinates training for colleges/departments as needed to enhance understanding and management of the operating budget by campus personnel, including the training of end users on the budget transfers.
    • Assists with budget transfers.
    • Assists in monitoring of budget account balances and expenditures.
    • Prepares budget transfers on request.
    • Other duties as assigned.
