    Job Summary

    The student research assistant will work on a research project in applied mathematics. The project will require writing computer codes mostly in MATLAB to simulate and analyze data.

    It will also involve doing mathematical calculations and may require using Maple, a computer algebra system, and other numerical software packages.

    The selected candidate should be willing to write and test codes as well as adapt/modify existing codes.

    Responsibilities

    Research - 100

    Write computational codes to generate and analyze data relevant to the project, plot, tabulate and collect the results.

    Use other numerical tools and software packages as required and present their summarized findings to the faculty mentor every week.

    Required Qualifications

    Educational Requirements

    High School Diploma. The applicant has successfully completed Calculus II and at least one course in Computer Science.

    Required Experience

    Enrolled at Georgia College.

    Applicant should be highly motivated who is comfortable with calculus, basic matrix manipulations, basic statistical ideas, and has introductory programming skills.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Preferred Educational Qualifications

    Successfully completed a course in Differential Equations and a course in programming.

    Preferred Experience

    Has experience in computer programming in Java, C+, C++, Python or MATLAB.

    ABILITIES
    Ability to learn and adapt according to the requirements of the project. Must be able to follow through with all responsibilities in the assigned tasks.

    Has experimentation and problem-solving skills with good reasoning abilities, has willingness to learn, is attentive to details, and is methodical.
