    JOB SUMMARY/


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    The Patient Service Representative (PSR) supports the operations of the clinic by performing day-to-day administrative tasks while ensuring high-quality customer service to the patients at University Health Services.


    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Welcomes, greets, and screens patients and departmental clients/visitors.
    • Answers multi-line phone system, addresses/schedules appointments, and directs calls to appropriate persons.
    • Performs day-to-day administrative functions and general office duties, including word processing, copying, scanning, faxing, sorting/distributing mail, and data entry.
    • Maintains patient accounts, verifies method of payment for service, and collects data and/or payment as appropriate.
    • Maintains patient waiting areas and front desk areas in a manner that is organized and neat.
    • Creates and maintains charts in electronic formats.
    • Scans and indexes documents in the electronic health record.
    • Attends scheduled department staff and clinical meetings.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    EDUCATIONS:
    High School Diploma or GED. (TRANSCRIPT IS REQUIRED)


    EXPERIENCE:

    Two (2) years of related administrative clerical experience to include six (6) months of medical receptionist experience; OR a Bachelor's Degree will be accepted in lieu of experience.

    • Ability to provide professional etiquette, cultural sensitivity, empathy, and work with diverse groups.
    • Ability to exercise a high degree of diplomacy and tact.
    • Ability to understand medical terminology.
    • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Skill and flexibility to accommodate the changing needs of the department.
    • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills in English; additional language abilities welcomed.
    • Ability to work well individually or in a team capacity with minimal supervision.
    • Basic to intermediate computer knowledge and skills.
    • Ability to work independently, multi-task, team-oriented, deal with challenging situations and people, and problem-solve through job related-tasks.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

    WORK SCHEDULE:
    This position may occasionally be required to work evenings and weekends.
