    Covia is looking for a dynamic Staff Accountant who will have a positive impact on the Accounting team at its Ottawa, IL location.

    The Staff Accountant will perform general accounting duties including journal entries, account reconciliations, internal and external audit requests and other duties as assigned.

    The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities:


    • Execute day to day accounting tasks as assigned.
    • Assist in month end close processes, preparing journal entries, and reconciling financial data.
    • Maintain monthly account reconciliations as assigned.
    • Accrue, process and reconcile expense invoices as assigned.
    • Assist in the review, recording and reconciliation of physical inventories.
    • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures and controls.
    • Serve as back up for fixed assets and lease accounting.
    • Provide support for internal and external audit.
    The successful incumbent will have the following Minimum Qualifications:


    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, or relevant field required
    • 2-3 years technical accounting experience required
    • Working knowledge of IFS preferred
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with intermediate skill of MS Excel
    • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to work independently or as part of a team and to handle multiple tasks concurrently
