Status: Part-time; temporary; without benefits
Hours: 16 hours per week
Salary: $15.00 per hour

Athens Regional Library System is seeking a part-time Social Media/Marketing Intern for the Athens-Clarke County Library. This is a part-time, paid position of 16 hours per week, to end no later than May 30, 2025, with an opportunity to renew. Expected work hours are between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Students with a focus in advertising, public relations, web design, or digital media experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
We seek an enthusiastic, innovative, and flexible individual who proactively searches for opportunities to deliver quality library services that engage the community and exceed expectations. This position reports directly to the Public Information Officer.
The Social Media and Marketing Intern will play a key role in enhancing the library system's online presence and promoting its services, events, and resources through various digital platforms. This internship offers a hands-on opportunity for individuals interested in gaining practical experience in social media management, content creation, and marketing within a dynamic and community-focused environment.
Minimum Training and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required, with enrollment in or recent graduate of a degree program in marketing, advertising, communications, journalism, digital media, or related field preferred. Any combination of education, training and experience that provides requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position will be considered. Additional training will be provided.
Essential Responsibilities
The following are normal, but not exclusive or all-inclusive, expectations for this job. Other duties of a similar nature or level may be required as assigned, and job assignments and work schedule are subject to change during the internship.
Social Media:
Create engaging content for various social media platforms.
Develop and implement a content calendar to ensure regular and consistent posting.
Monitor social media channels, respond to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely manner, and engage with the online community.
Analyze social media metrics and insights to track performance and identify areas for improvement
Content Creation:
Generate creative and visually appealing multimedia content, including graphics, reels, videos, and photos, to support marketing campaigns, events, and initiatives.
Collaborate with library staff to gather content and stories highlighting the library's programs, services, and impact on the community.
Marketing and Promotion:
Assist in the development and execution of marketing strategies to increase awareness of library services and events among target audiences, keeping consistent branding in mind.
Help create promotional materials such as flyers, posters, and digital ads.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficiency with social media sites and best practices.
Proficiency with video editing software such as Premiere or FinalCutPro.
Knowledge of branding and style guidelines, including fonts, colors, and graphics.
Ability to work with people with tact, patience, and courtesy and exercise excellent communication skills.
Creativity and a passion for storytelling.
Familiarity with social media platforms and best practices.
Proficiency in graphic design and/or video editing tools is a plus.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to maintain a regular schedule with occasional changes in schedule for select special events.
Ability to manage multiple projects, ensuring that work is prioritized appropriately and completed in a timely manner.
Knowledge of all normal and emergency library building procedures.
Knowledge of the library's core values; ability to provide external and internal service that is welcoming, committed to excellence, inclusive, and respectful and that supports the community and co-workers.
Physical demand requirements are at levels of Medium Work.
