    Provides direct patient care under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse consistent with the established guidelines of practice, the Goals of Mercy Health System, the Philosophy of the Sisters of Mercy, the Code of Professional and Business Ethics and the Co-worker Code of Conduct


    QualificationsEducation:
    Prefer successful completion of a High School Diploma and/or Nurse Assistant training course and/or possesses a significant amount of Nurse Assistant experience

    Experience:
    Prefer experience working with mentally ill as Nursing Assistant or Mental Health Technician

    Certifications:
    Must have a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or complete a course within their probation period.

    Physical crisis management skills, Therapeutic communication skills, knowledge of developmental stages, general knowledge of common psychiatric disorders and group dynamics preferred.

    Meet unit specific physical demands. Significant amount of bending and stooping, as well as lifting and turning patients with assistance.

    May be required to work differing schedules, shifts, days of the week, or work frequency according to patient care requirements.

    High risk exposure to blood and body fluids.

    Office equipment; copier, fax, phone, computer. Patient care equipment; patient lift, electric beds, restraints, wheelchair, Geri chair, pulse oximetry and vital sign equipment.
