    Job Description Summary

    The Engineering Manager is responsible for coordinating all aspects of Process/Project Engineering across the two-plant Florence manufacturing campus. The Engineering Manager will be a key leader for the campus in driving process optimization to improve safety, reduce cost, improve quality, improve process reliability, establish best in class control of the manufacturing processes, and streamlines manufacturing through deployment of contemporary Lean practices - all with collaboration and coordination with the plant/production leadership team. He/She will also drive project execution, from the design phase, continuing through the installation and validation phases of the completed project within the established project management framework. He/She will lead a team of Engineers and have a key focus on developing strong engineering capability across the campus. The leader will have strong ownership/accountability for driving continuous improvement and improving process OEE, driving year-over-year cost savings, and reducing manufacturing defects from the process. The Engineering Manager will be expected to develop strategies to drive step-change improvements in these areas and lead execution of the strategy through leadership of the Engineering team.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Provide leadership and direction to plant multidisciplinary Engineering team.
    • Provide project management leadership for all Engineering projects.
    • Create a culture of continuous improvement, process discipline, project execution, and accountability for measurable results.
    • Build strong, collaborative relationships with the plant/production leaders and the World Class Manufacturing leaders
    • Collaborative and coordinate seamlessly with the division Engineering/R&D team
    • Share best practices across plants in Florence and across other Tarkett plants globally
    • Conduct Gate Reviews and routinely interact with Senior Management and other stakeholders to communicate project status per the established Project Communications Plan.
    • Data driven problem solving in both variance to standard as well as continuous improvement.
    • Assign tasks, responsibilities, and accountability to team members to achieve Project and Product goals.
    • Mentor, coach and development of plant's Engineering Team.
    • Ability to work hands-on to drive results while developing the capability of the Engineering Team
    • Execute productivity action plan (PAP) projects to improve overall cost structure.
    Basic Qualifications
    • A strong, consistent track record of driving process improvements with measurable results and building a continuous improvement culture
    • An experienced engineer in process manufacturing who has successfully led engineering teams for multiple years
    • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Industrial Engineering from an accredited institution.
    • 8+ years of experience in field in manufacturing.
    • 5+ years of experience in materials conversion processing (example: rubbers plastic, vinyl, polymers)
    • 3+ years of experience leading Engineering teams including Process/Production Engineers and Project Engineers.
    • Microsoft software proficiency
    • Strong interpersonal skills and both written and verbal communication skills
    • Makes timely decision, problem solves based on facts versus opinions, monitors progress and incorporates modifications to ensure success.
    • Demonstrates ability to champion change, analyzes work processes and identifies areas for improvement, challenges the status quo, drives improvement to performance standards and takes appropriate calculated risks.
    • Proven ability to manage multiple projects with high levels of complexity
    • Ability to work independently and to provide leadership to the Engineering Team.
    • Proven ability to turn conceptual ideas into fully industrialized processes by utilizing existing or developing new technologies.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Flooring manufacturing experience
    • Experience with Six Sigma - Black Belt
    • Experience leading automation projects
    • Background in World Class Manufacturing (WCM) or equivalent operating system.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Project or other project management tool.
    • Basic navigation of SAP
    • Fluent in Management of Change (MOC) process
