Job Summary
Otsuka's internship program, Intern the Otsuka Way (InTOW), offers students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop critical skills while contributing to meaningful projects.
Interns will work alongside experienced professionals, learn about the complexities of the pharmaceutical industry, and gain insights into potential career paths.
By combining practical experience with professional development, our program prepares interns for future success. Our internship program also includes instructor led trainings, a leadership engagement series, as well as insightful lunch and learns.Application Deadline:

Job Description
The AI Automation Engineer Intern will support R&D IT initiatives by designing and prototyping an agentic AI workflow to automate targeted tasks within Clinical Operations.
This internship offers hands-on exposure to AI engineering, automation pipelines, and modern technical environments—including AWS cloud, workflow design, and IT operational processes.
The intern will contribute to technical site upkeep, help enhance AWS Skill Builder reporting and metrics, and participate in analysis of IT service (IOS) tickets to identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.
This role is ideal for early‑career students eager to gain practical experience in AI, automation engineering, cloud infrastructure, and IT operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop a proof‑of‑concept agentic AI workflow aimed at automating a specific Clinical Operations task.
Build and test data extraction, reasoning, and decision-making components required for the workflow.
Produce a structured output or functional prototype demonstrating efficiency gains from the AI-automated process.
Document the methodology, system architecture, testing approach, and evaluation metrics to ensure the PoC can be replicated, extended, or validated by R&D IT.
Deliver a final demo and presentation summarizing results, limitations, business value, and recommended next steps.Support technical upkeep tasks such as website updates, AWS Skill Builder metrics, and analysis of IOS service tickets to identify automation opportunities.
Minimum:
Undergraduate student graduating in the next 18-24 months pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field.
Familiarity with prompt engineering or basic GenAI/LLM concepts.
Strong interest in AI automation, IT systems, or cloud technologies.
Authorization to work in the United States for the duration of the internship.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience with website development or CMS tools.
Exposure to AWS cloud services, cloud architecture, or serverless tools.
Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Git, or basic DevOps workflows.
Knowledge of ITIL practices, IT service environments, or enterprise IT processes.
