- Works with dental office managers, assistants, and other professionals to ensure that patients maintain their own oral health. Prevent oral disease through cleanings, recommendations, and treatments.
- Prepares the operatory with all needed equipment, materials and supplies for planned dental procedure(s) prior to seating the patient and cleans operatory after the patient is dismissed for timely turnover.
- Proficiently provides procedures commonly recognized by the dental profession for safe performance by a licensed dental hygienist include the removal of all hard and soft deposits and stains from the human teeth to the depth of the gingival sulcus, polishing natural and restored surfaces of teeth, performing clinical examination of teeth and surrounding tissues for diagnosis by the dentist, and performing other such procedures as may be delegated by the dentist.
- Dental Hygienist provide direct patient care under the general supervision of the Dentist and perform other clinical and clerical functions independent of direct supervision.
- Other duties within scope as assigned
- Graduate from a Dental hygiene program accredited by the American Dental Association's Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
- Degree:1-year of graduate education in dental hygiene or in a directly related field of study Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
- DEA License
- For all grade levels and positions, applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Hygienist from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
- Current BLS certification. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) is preferred
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
- Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
- May require bending, stooping and lifting to 15 lbs.
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
- Must relocate to project site for the duration of the contract.
- Pass a Child abuse and neglect check.
- Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance

Job DescriptionWe are seeking Dental Hygienists to join our teams across the US. This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program.
The dental hygienist is an integral member of the dental treatment team and performs a wide variety of interventions which contribute to the overall oral health of Veterans. The work requires a professional knowledge of the field of dental hygiene and the biomedical sciences that relate to dentistry. The incumbent hygienist will provide ongoing patient and family education throughout the course of treatment. The incumbent must adhere to policies and procedures regarding the completion of all required orders, operation/procedure notes/reports, discharge summaries, progress notes, clinical reminders, all other required medical documentation, and performance measures in a timely fashion; will ensure the most effective delivery of care, while meeting and exceeding compliance, Joint Commission and VA Central Office performance measure standards; will mentor, train and provide supervision for residents and mid-levels in all aspects of their duties as required; and performs other directly related duties as required.
