    Job Summary


    The James Lumber Center Student Worker is an integral part of the team at The James Lumber Center for Performing Arts ( JLC ).

    The JLC's mission is to present high-quality, professional entertainment experiences, celebrate and showcase the variety and value of the performing arts and provide support to college and community programs, activities and educational events held in our facility.

    The JLC is committed to the principles of access, inclusion, diversity and equity in our center partnerships, department staffing, facility scheduling, artistic programming and presentation use.


    The JLC Student Support Staff will work within the JLC Department in a variety of areas: JLC Department Office, JLC Box Office, JLC Marketing and JLC Front of House.

    The primary area of work is the JLC Box Office, but the worker will help in additional areas as needed to get a well-rounded overview of how a professional theatre works.


    JLC Department Office – support daily office tasks and clerical duties such as answering phones, filing, data entry, typing correspondence and completion of general office tasks as needed.


    JLC Box Office – work with cash/credit cards in selling tickets to patrons via a computerized ticketing system and answer phone calls.

    General department tasks as needed.

    JLC Front of House – greet and/or assist patrons with performance seating and directions within the facilities.


    JLC Marketing – compile show reports (surveys/ticket trends); research group/individual ticket buyer prospects via phone calls/emails; update master internal mailing list for targeted marketing efforts and mailings; flier/poster distribution; update lobby promotional displays as needed.

    Additional duties include general marketing department tasks as needed.

    Required Qualification(s)

    • Must be a CLC student enrolled in a minimum of six college credit hours for fall or three credit hours for the summer
    • Must have or maintain a 2.
    0 cumulative GPA

    • Attach availability schedule with application
    • Strong command of the English language
    • Previous data entry experience preferred
    • General keyboard skills preferred
    • Good communication skills
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Ability to follow directions and also work independently
    Desired Qualification(s)

    • Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Good customer service skills

    Pay Rate $14.00

    Total Hours per week 10-20

    Work Schedule

    Schedule is flexible but primary hours are weekdays between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. with some evenings and weekends, not to exceed 20 hours per week. Position runs through the end of the academic year.

    (Hours adjusted based on departmental needs and the student's class schedule/availability).
