Position Information
The purpose of this classification is to design and deliver program activities that are safe and age appropriate for camp participants. Assist in the management of the overall camp operation at the direction of the Recreation Supervisor/Coordinator.
Job Summary
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Assists in interviewing, selection and training of camp counselors.
Supervises and schedules camp counselors; assigns camp counselors to specific duties, groups and activities.
Plans and implements daily camp schedule.
Schedules special guests and other specialty programming.
Plans program activities that are safe and age appropriate for camp participants.
Selects equipment and supplies needed for planned activities; maintains and organizes camp equipment.
Prepares facilities and equipment for camp activities; cleans and maintains camp facilities.
Ensures that all rules are followed by camp participants, staff and parents; maintains clear and positive communication with Recreation Supervisor/Coordinator, counselors, parents and camp participants.
Attends weekly field trips and staff meetings.
Completes and maintains camp attendance, health forms, injury reports, disciplinary records, daily sign-in/sign-out sheets.
Administers camp participants' daily medications.
Administers First Aid and reports injuries/accidents/illnesses to Recreation Supervisor/Coordinator.
Reports facility issues and supply needs to Recreation Supervisor/Coordinator.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
This classification is designated as a safety sensitive position which is subject to random drug and alcohol testing and any other drug testing methods as stated in policies adopted by Forsyth County concerning drug and alcohol.
Performs general/clerical tasks, which may include answering telephone calls, making copies, sending/receiving faxes, filing documentation, processing incoming/outgoing mail, distributing documentation, or posting information at parks.
Performs light maintenance/housekeeping tasks associated with maintaining event sites or work areas, which may include sweeping/mopping floors, cleaning tables/counters, cleaning kitchen sinks/refrigerators, picking up trash, setting up tables/chairs.
Provides assistance to other employees or departments as needed.
Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Age 21 is preferred, with age 20 being the minimum requirement. Two or more years of responsible experience working with youth in a camp, educational or program setting is required. Must possess organizational skills; be enthusiastic, adaptable, dependable and responsible. Must be able to work outdoors and participate in active games and programming. Must possess a valid Georgia driver's license and able to attend CPR training prior to summer camp.
Seasonal employees are not eligible for benefits.
