- Deliver veterinary care to all laboratory animal species under the supervision of the Director, Operations.
- Assist in managing a surgical and clinical veterinary care program to uphold animal welfare and support pre-clinical research on cardiovascular device development and novel therapies for cardiovascular disease.
- Maintain accurate records of physical examinations and diagnostic decisions in alignment with study protocols.
- Participate in training activities for the SCI veterinary staff and research team.
- Engage in research activities focusing on veterinary cardiovascular medicine.
- Ensure compliance with regulations and study protocols.
- Document any issues affecting animal welfare or study quality.
- Oversee health assessments, diagnostic procedures, and necropsies as needed.
- DVM/VMD degree from an AVMA-accredited institution or equivalent.
- Veterinary licensure in at least one state required (NY State preferred).
- USDA Veterinary Accreditation required.
- 3-5 years of experience in companion or mixed animal clinical practice.
- Experience in animal research preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze complex information and solve problems related to laboratory animal care.

The Veterinarian is responsible for providing daily veterinary care at SCI, delivering preventive and ongoing clinical veterinary care for all SCI laboratory animals, overseeing anesthesia and surgical programs, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
