Aerospace and Defense Attorney

Our client is a prestigious full-service law firm with a rich history and a strong presence, boasting offices in Detroit, Ann Arbor, Oakland County, Lansing, New York, and Washington, D.The firm is dedicated to expanding their Aerospace & Defense ("A&D") practice, and are currently seeking partner-level established attorneys with a book of business to enhance their offerings to existing clients.

Government and Commercial Contracts:

Advise clients on complex government and commercial contracts related to Aerospace & Defense matters, including drafting legal memoranda, handling bid protests, Requests for Equitable Adjustments (REAs), and claims.

Contribute substantive policy articles and commentary on pertinent legal topics.

Regulatory Expertise:

Conduct in-depth research on government contract law, subcontracts, administrative law, and regulatory requirements at the federal and state levels.

Organizational and Project Management:
Exhibit strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.

Legal Research:
Demonstrate proficiency in efficient and creative legal research, utilizing legal research services effectively.

• Exercise sound, independent judgment in legal matters.
• Capable of working independently with minimal or no supervision.
• EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR TRAINING

Legal Experience:
Hold a minimum of 3+ years of experience in federal government contracts, with additional experience in U.S. export controls, including OFAC sanctions, being a valuable asset.

Space Law:
Experience in space law is considered a plus.

Government Contracts Knowledge:
Familiarity with the FAR, DFARS, other agency FAR supplements, size protests, teaming agreements, joint ventures (JVs), mentor/protégé
arrangements, subcontracting, supply chain matters, data rights, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), including compliance, transactional work, and litigation support.

Litigation and Administrative Proceedings:

Experience representing clients in administrative or court proceedings, including bid protests, claims, internal and government investigations, and compliance planning and training.

• A portable book of business is considered a significant asset.
• Experience with government contracting cost issues, government and commercial intellectual property (IP) rights, Foreign Military Sales (FMS), Foreign Military Financing (FMF), security clearances, Foreign Ownership, Control, or Influence (FOCI), and Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) matters is a valuable plus.
