    R&D Technician


    Lays out, fabricates, assembles, and tests aerospace parts, assemblies, and mechanisms to assist engineers in the development of products/parts for new programs or development opportunities.

    Job Summary


    Lays out, fabricates, assembles, and tests aerospace parts, assemblies, and mechanisms to be tested, according to blueprints, specifications, sketches, templates, or verbal instructions.

    Fabricates and assembles test equipment, tooling, shop aids, or other devices for experimental test projects.

    Interfaces with engineers, laboratories, and program team to coordinate job tasks and report progress.

    Documents standard work and refines processes as they move from developmental to production ready.


    Tracking and documenting project activities, taking notes and setting estimated completion dates of activities, consults and seeks clarification to get the job done correctly, accountable for tracking of all materials and data associated with project, and offers suggestions and improvements to the processes.

    Active participation in design team and generating ideas for improvement.

    Required Skills and Qualifications

    Computer literate and able to effectively use Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project Management tools.

    Mechanical aptitude and ability to function in a hands-on role.

    Knowledge of lean product development and/or Six-sigma methodologies.

    Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

    The ability to communicate effectively with peers and management in both verbal and written forms.

    Knowledge of composite material processing.

    Attention to detail in every aspect.

    Required Experience and Education

    Minimum of two years of experience.

    High School Diploma or GED

    College courses in Chemistry or Material Science, associate degree preferred.

    Mathematic competency and the ability to calculate material requirements and ratios as part of everyday assignments.
