We are currently hiring a mid-level Electrical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Division – Energy & Commissioning team in our Buffalo, NY office.
The Energy & Commissioning team at LaBella provides comprehensive energy efficiency and renewable energy consultancy, design and commissioning services including feasibility studies and analysis through project design and construction and concluding in commissioning and future planning.
Our engineers are well versed in all aspects of energy studies relating to new construction, renovations, additions, and design/build projects for a variety of clients.
The Engineer will work with colleagues in the renewable energy group as well as multiple disciplines including the power, civil and environmental engineers to analyze and develop concepts, designs, drawings, specifications, and reports relating to renewable energy projects.
Principal duties will concentrate on solar photovoltaic projects including interconnection applications, review and studies, design and management, post-construction inspections and third-party assistance.
Candidates will work on an interesting variety of project types including commercial, community and utility-scale projects in planning and construction design phases throughout New York and many other states in the continental USA.
Projects will include rooftop and ground-mount facilities on green and brownfield sites.The engineer will be an integral part of an experienced and dedicated team that are working on an exciting and diverse portfolio of projects with a collaborative client base.

DutiesDesign of distribution and utility-scale solar PV facilities including DC and AC circuit distribution, raceways, switchboard and transformer sizing, MV equipment and protection systems.
Project compliance with NFPA 70 (NEC) and IEEE-C2 (NESC).Equipment and material specification, selection, and review
Selection and calculations for design purposes
Work with Jr Engineers to develop and review project drawings and documentation
Work independently and as part of a team to design, manage and complete project designs
Construction phase services such as submittal review and site visits to monitor project progress
Post-project completion inspections
Salary Range:
$80,000 - $100,000 per year
The specific salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.
RequirementsBachelor's degree in electrical engineering, energy engineering, engineering technology or related program
A minimum of 5 years professional engineering experience
Preferred: 3 years or more of experience working in the solar photovoltaic field.
AutoCAD experience.
Revit experience is a plus
New York State Professional Engineer's license is a plus.
Experience in
solar/interconnection -related software is required including:
PVSyst (or similar) energy production modeling software;
eTap power analysis (or similar);
PVCase (or similar) CAD design is desirable.
