    Introduction: Gecko Hospitality is excited to offer an excellent opportunity for an experienced Assistant Director of Engineering. This role is essential in managing daily engineering operations and maintenance at a prestigious hotel property, ensuring high standards are met for both guest satisfaction and facility upkeep.

    Position Description: The Assistant Director of Engineering will coordinate and oversee the maintenance and engineering tasks of the hotel, working under the direction of the Chief Engineer. This position is pivotal in ensuring the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the engineering department.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Manage day-to-day engineering and maintenance activities of the hotel, ensuring all operations run smoothly and efficiently.
    • Support and improve engineering services to address issues affecting both guests and staff promptly.
    • Assist in training and development of the engineering team, utilizing both in-house resources and external vendors.
    • Independently handle maintenance projects, from planning and procurement of materials to execution, ensuring compliance with local codes and standards.
    • Maintain detailed records of projects, tasks, and repairs.
    • Coordinate with various departments to ensure minimal disruption to guest services during maintenance activities.
    • Be flexible with work hours, acknowledging the hotel's operational requirements which may include varied shifts and extended hours as needed.

    Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent; further education in a technical field, such as a two-year technical degree, is preferred.
    • Minimum of four years' experience in a similar role, or two years' experience as Engineering III.
    • Valid Driver's License and any other required licenses.
    • Excellent communication skills; ability to read and interpret technical documents, write routine reports, and effectively communicate with guests and staff.
    • Proficient in managing maintenance instructions, safety rules, and project management.
    • Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of training and developing a technical team.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including frequent walking, standing, and handling of materials.
    • Capable of performing physical activities such as lifting, kneeling, and maneuvering through the property's engineering spaces.

    Work Environment:

    • The role requires readiness to work in a facility operational 24/7, including necessary adjustments to the work schedule as per business demands, which might exceed the typical 40-hour work week.
