    Description

    The Site Medical Director performs the general duties of a physician: assesses and evaluates the health care needs of patients; performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and institutes and manages care for patients. In addition, the Site Medical Director supervises other licensed staff and is responsible for maintaining the highest standard of care.

    Position Requirements

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Administers and supervises the medical functions and staff of Clinic site.
    • Attends and participates in quality improvement activities. Makes recommendations to the quality improvement committee about necessary and appropriate quality improvement activities and in-service training.
    • Develops, reviews and approves medical protocols and procedures in consultation with medical staff, administration and the quality improvement committee.
    • Orients and extensively reviews new staff to assure competency. Participates in on-going evaluation and peer review. Reviews and signs charts of Advanced Practice Clinicians and allied health personnel on an on-going basis.
    • Supervises laboratory and pharmacy services at the Clinic site. Approves Clinic formulary and makes recommendations for inclusion of new drugs and devices as appropriate.
    • Serves as a member of the Site Leadership Team and make recommendations about general clinic policies, identifies problems related to patient services and medical staff supervised, and makes recommendations for improvement.
    • In coordination with management, Chief Medical Officer, reviews resumes, participates in interviews and recommends for hire new medical providers to fill positions approved by administration.
    • Receives complaints about medical personnel and works to resolve problems in accordance with established clinic policies and procedures.
    • Displays positive modeling and behaviors for other providers.
    • Adheres to established clinical protocols, procedures, and attendance policy.
    • Assists in updating clinical protocols and procedures when requested.
    • Other duties and responsibilities as designated by supervisor.
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Knowledge of health care delivery and administration, as well as legal and ethical issues related to health care.
    • Ability to work with a team approach to management. Ability to work as a member of a team in order to solicit input from other affected departments or individuals, communicate pertinent information to other team members, and support team decisions.
    • Ability to be persuasive and diplomatic in encouraging teamwork and cooperation in the pursuit of excellence in service.
    • Ability to communicate effectively and exercise sound and responsible judgment.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal. Ability to establish constructive working relationships with all levels of management and employees in a staff of varied and diverse backgrounds.
    • Ability to handle difficult or confrontational situations in a calm, consistent, and equitable manner.
    • Ability to supervise others and delegate effectively.
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
    • Ability to effectively represent the Clinic's interests in the community; maintaining effective working relationships among public, private and professional groups.
    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
    • Current California medical license.
    • Current Board Certification.
    • Current DEA license.
    • Current CPR.

    Wage Range
    Wage Range: $217, $250,224.00 plus stipend
