- Collaborate with Occupational Therapists to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients based on their specific needs and goals.
- Assist patients in performing therapeutic exercises, activities, and interventions to improve mobility, strength, coordination, and fine motor skills.
- Provide guidance and support to patients in activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding, to promote independence and enhance quality of life.
- Utilize adaptive equipment and assistive devices as needed to facilitate patients' engagement in meaningful occupations and activities.
- Monitor and document patients progress during therapy sessions, including objective measurements and subjective observations, and communicate findings to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as nurses, physicians, speech therapists, and physical therapists, to coordinate patient care and ensure comprehensive treatment planning.
- Educate patients and their families on therapeutic techniques, adaptive strategies, and home exercise programs to support continuity of care and promote carryover of skills.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient care activities, progress notes, and billing information in compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
- Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) from an accredited program.
- Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
- Valid licensure as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state of Alabama.
- CPR certification preferred.
- Prior experience in a healthcare or rehabilitation setting preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and their families.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with other healthcare professionals.
