    Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
    The Director of Finance and Administrative Services is responsible for overseeing all of the administrative and financial activities of the Institute for Health Computing


    Key responsibilities include:
    managing, tracking, planning and reporting the annual budget, payroll, purchasing and expenditures of the Institute, supervising, organizing, and mentoring the

    staff

    of the Institute, and administering and coordinating the sponsored research of the Institute. The Director of Administrative Services reports directly to the


    UMD
    Director, and also works closely with college-level administrative officers.
    Bachelor's degree required, preferably in accounting or business administration or a related field.


    Experience:
    Must have 3 years supervisory experience with at least 10 years of progressively responsible professional management experience.


    Preferences:

    Preferences:
    Advanced degree in business administration or related field.

    Experience in a University setting with 3-5 years of post-degree experience and experience coordinating budgeting and administration of sponsored research grants and contracts.

    Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational and supervisory skills. Fluency in the practices of financial planning, budgeting, accounting, and bookkeeping.

    This is primarily a sedentary position involving extensive use of desktop computers. The position does occasionally require walking some distance to attend meetings, elsewhere on campus.
